#22. The Festival of Colors

So we actually did this one! We went to the temple, shouted "Hari Krishna" a couple of times, threw some colored chalk in the air, and had a blast!! It was awesome, and we all got dyed all some pretty cool colors too :) It was great to go to church the next day and see a bunch of people with odd patches of color in their hair. We went to the 4:00 session, and there were so many people there! It was pretty crazy, and I loved every minute of it! In the end, I still don't really know the story behind why that ritual takes place. All I figured out was that the colors are symbolic of the spring, and that there was an evil witch that ate babies? And so during the festival they burned a witch-mannequin thing. Kinda weird. The guy also kept talking about how we needed to love everyone and accept everyone's differences. There is more to the story behind the festival, but I just don't know it. Maybe next year I'll listen better :) One thing off the list!!!
