Oh, The Marriott Center

What can you really say about a place where you spend 40+ hours of your week, voluntarily? Well, I'll have you know that some really spectacular things go on at the Marriott Center (where I work as a janitor, mind you). Last Saturday I was at work and we were cleaning chairs in the loges at the Stadium. Three other girls and I were using this huge machine to do it. It ran out of water, so I took it to get it filled up. The hose from the sink goes into this rather large hole in the machine. Anyways, I turned on the hot water but it was taking forever to fill up. So I decided to turn on the cold water too, ya know to make it fill up faster. Bad idea. I guess there was too much pressure, because the hose flew out of the hole and got me completely soaked. I kept trying to grab it, but it was positioned perfectly by my foot facing up, so every time I tried to get it the only thing that happened was that I got sprayed in the face. The three girls had come to my rescue when they heard my screams, but there was really nothing that they could do for me. I was on my own. Eventually I got the water turned off, and was left standing in a puddle of water on the floor. After rolling up my dripping pants and wiping out my shoes with a couple of rags, we called it a day and took the rest of the shift easy. I do however, have some unfinished business with that hose.

#22. The Festival of Colors

So we actually did this one! We went to the temple, shouted "Hari Krishna" a couple of times, threw some colored chalk in the air, and had a blast!! It was awesome, and we all got dyed all some pretty cool colors too :) It was great to go to church the next day and see a bunch of people with odd patches of color in their hair. We went to the 4:00 session, and there were so many people there! It was pretty crazy, and I loved every minute of it! In the end, I still don't really know the story behind why that ritual takes place. All I figured out was that the colors are symbolic of the spring, and that there was an evil witch that ate babies? And so during the festival they burned a witch-mannequin thing. Kinda weird. The guy also kept talking about how we needed to love everyone and accept everyone's differences. There is more to the story behind the festival, but I just don't know it. Maybe next year I'll listen better :) One thing off the list!!!

"Looking Forward to Things Is Half the Pleasure"

So, here is the deal. For the summer, we have created a wonderful list of things that we would like to do! They are random things (some of them serving absolutely no point, well most of them) that will keep us entertained during our free time :) As we do each item and cross it off I will make a short post of it on my blog. Each item has to be done by all of us, and we have to have a picture with it. So, wish us luck :) There are 81 things... Here goes nothing.

Finally!!

Hello all! So I have been wanting a blog for quite some time but have had trouble getting it set up. Thanks to my lovely sister Emilie and my "Butterflyicious Blog" that was set up long ago, getting a new blog was sort of tricky :) But it finally got done and I'm ready to go! Special thanks to Talana for helping me get it ready, and also for becoming my first follower!! Hooray! Anyways, I'll be a regular blogger in a few weeks when I figure all of this nonsense out. I'm ready to join the blogging world, finally :)
